Neugasse Tower / Tall in the Gleisfeld
The Neugasse Tower is taking action within the development of the Gleisfeld in Zürich. The ongoing process of change along the Gleisfeld is resulting in gentrification processes, which are exemplified by a planned project for the Geroldstrasse area, one of the most vibrant subcultural places in Zürich.
On the other side of the viaduct, directly besides the endangered Geroldstrasse area, lies the Neugasse area which will be transformed in 2022. Here, the Neugasse Tower comes into play as a starting point.
The Neugasse Tower is a raw structure providing space for occupation in a vertical manner. Its facade consists out of an adaptable modular scaffolding. The occupation should be left independent of municipal regulations.
The Neugasse Tower has to be read as part of a previous project that transformed the Viaduct into accessible ground for the city. The tower provides an additional access point and therefore becomes part of the natural flow of movement within Zürich.
